UTRGV School of Podiatric Medicine

The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) School of Podiatric Medicine is the first podiatric medical school in Texas. Students earn a four-year Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) degree. Podiatric medicine is a specialized field of healthcare focused on the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of conditions affecting the foot, ankle, and lower extremities. Doctors of Podiatric Medicine address a wide range of issues, including sports injuries, diabetic foot care, structural deformities, and chronic pain.

At UTRGV, podiatry students study anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical and surgical treatment of foot and ankle conditions. Training includes clinical rotations, hands-on patient care, and collaboration with other healthcare professionals across the Rio Grande Valley.

Graduates are well-prepared to diagnose, treat, and manage a wide range of conditions, improving mobility and quality of life for their patients.

Student Scholarship Applications

Potential podiatric students applying/attending the UTRGV School of Podiatric Medicine may submit a general application for our private scholarships. Each year, there will be multiple merit scholarships available for the Review Committee to award and distribute. The deadline for applicants is June 20 each year. Students can re-apply annually.

As of August 2023, TPMA & TPMF have partnered to set up a direct donor fund with UTRGV. Donations, memorials and gifts can be directly processed online to the school using our new fund link.
