Online Radiology Training Program
In an effort to provide required training for podiatric medical assistants who perform podiatric radiological procedures in the podiatric office, this online course was developed by TPMA to better train the office staff and to save the doctors money in travel and related costs.
Who Is It For?
Any person performing Podiatric (i.e. Foot/Ankle) radiological procedures in the practice of a licensed Podiatric Physician (other than the Podiatric Physician or a Non-Certified Technician (NCT) registered with the Texas Medical Board) must be registered with TDLR as a Podiatric Medical Radiological Technician.
Please visit TDLR’s “Podiatry – Radiology Technicians” website to obtain all regulatory information for Podiatric Medical Radiological Technicians.
Course Description:
This online course will develop an understanding of the risks and safety measures associated with radiography as well as to be able to demonstrate proficiency in taking radiographs of the foot and ankle. It will allow the student to start and stop and take the course at their own pace. All study materials and forms needed will be provided upon registration for the course.
Online Instructional Modules – There are four learning modules. You will have three weeks to complete each module. Each module ends with its own final examination. To move to the next module, you must pass the exam with a minimum score of 70%. Each exam includes one immediate re-test, if needed. Failure of the re-test will require you to re-register and complete all the modules from the beginning.
Additionally: You must begin the program within 21 days of purchase. Once you begin, each course module MUST be completed within 21 days of assignment. You may stop and resume each module, BUT each module MUST be completed within 21 days.
Demonstration of Clinical Competency – You must document clinical experience and competency by demonstrating the proper performance of 60 x-ray views in the podiatrist’s office. Your purchase receipt contains the link to download the approved log. You must complete your log and have your supervising Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) licensed podiatrist affirm and sign it.
Online Legal Attestation and Certificate – Upon successful completion of the fourth and final course learning module, you will be assigned the online attestation and certificate package, containing individual legal attestations that you have studied the manual, the x-ray log, and completed all the required documentation. This package also contains the certificate of completion required for your application to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR).
